After the extraction of a tooth, one naturally wishes to fill the gap as quickly as possible. At Smile Ahead Clinic, we perform the implant placement at the same time as the extraction of the tooth. This procedure saves valuable recovery time for the patient, as the bone heals at the same time that the implant is integrated into the jaw.

At the time of the operation, we can place a temporary crown to fill the gap until the final prosthetic work is done, whether it is one implant or multiple ones in the whole jaw.

At Smile Ahead we respect our patients’ time and, in the vast majority of cases, we can predict with great accuracy their total recovery time.

The natural bone fusion process (aka osseointegration) – the time during which the implants must remain in the bone without receiving irritation – takes two (2) to three (3) months for the lower jaw and three (3) to four (4) months for the upper jaw. After this time, the prosthesis can be completed by placing the artificial teeth on top of the implants.
